The Thrill of the Hunt
I’ve always believed that local recommendations unlock the heart of any destination. So, I set out on a mission, asking every local I met for their favorite hidden spots. My curiosity paid off, leading me to incredible eateries I wouldn’t have found otherwise. I even had a memorable encounter with a taxi driver who insisted I visit a place “Best tacos in Aruba” That was all the encouragement I needed!
Hidden Gem 1: Zeerover
At Zeerover, a casual beachside shack where fresh seafood takes center stage, the laid-back vibe made me feel like a true islander. I ordered a heaping plate of freshly caught shrimp and fish straight off the boat. The seafood was so fresh and seasoned to perfection. My favorite? The crispy fried shrimp with their tangy dipping sauce—it was unforgettable.
Our accommodation was 5 min away and I pretty much sure that I went there 4 times there during my 5 day stay !

Hidden Gem 2: The LionFish Snack Aruba
At The LionFish Snack, I tried lionfish for the first time, a unique dish encouraged as part of the island’s environmental efforts to control the invasive species. It was unexpectedly delicious, with a light, flaky texture and mild flavor, served with sides of plantains and rice.
Lucciano Maazzeo, the owner, is a Paralympic athlete who loves scuba diving and is trying to capture invasive fish to save aruba sea life! Check out his website : https://thelionfishsnackaruba.com/

Hidden Gem 3: Eduardo’s Hideaway
Eduardo’s Hideaway was a little oasis nestled away from the tourist trails. The locals we met go there for a breakfast/Brunch. This plant-based café had some of the freshest smoothie bowls and raw desserts I’ve ever had. I enjoyed an acai bowl brimming with tropical fruits—healthy, colorful, and full of island flavors. It’s the perfect stop for anyone looking to refresh and recharge.

Hidden Gem 4: Pika’s Corner Aruban Cuisine
For a truly authentic taste of Aruba, Pika’s Corner serves up hearty dishes rooted in local traditions. The warm, welcoming atmosphere felt like dining in a local’s home.
As you can see their pork ribs and shrimps was a must try before you leave the island !

Hidden Gem 5: Delideli Aruba Food Truck
Finally, I found Delideli, a popular food truck with a big local following. Their empanadas were incredible, golden and crisp on the outside with perfectly spiced fillings. It was a grab-and-go experience with immense flavor packed into every bite—a perfect way to taste Aruba’s street food scene.
The truck owner was very welcoming and gave us tips on how to find secret Hidden Gem spots on the Island !
